BBOP New Member Submission Form
The Boulder Beat Opinion Panel is a group of Boulder-based writers in partnership with the Boulder Beat weighing in on important topics in Boulder. Our format is to have 16+ writers who collectively select topics, write short opinion pieces on a particular topic, and peer-edit each other’s work on a rotating basis. Our goal is to deliver timely commentary that’s fact checked and peer reviewed.

Boulder Beat Opinion Panel is a group working on a four week rotation: one week writing (300 word maximum opinion piece), one week where writers will respond to edits, one week editing (making revisions to a written piece and editing others’ pieces), and one week off. We envision a collaborative writing and peer editing process.

On writing weeks, each writer would write a short opinion (up to 300 words) on a board-selected topic of relevance to the Boulder community. That week’s assigned editors will edit the pieces and work with writers to verify sources and prepare for publication. We estimate the monthly time commitment to be about 5-7 hours per month. Board members would be asked to serve for single-year terms and current terms would run through the end of the calendar year.
